What is a probate loan?

A probate loan is a way to access funds while an estate is going through probate or administration, rather than waiting until the estate has been fully administered and assets distributed.

At Untangled, we offer different types of probate funding depending on your circumstances.

If you're a beneficiary waiting to receive an inheritance, our Inheritance Advance loan could allow you to access funds in advance of receiving your expected inheritance.

If you're an executor dealing with Inheritance Tax, legal fees or other estate expenses, our Estate Advance Loan could provide funding to help meet these costs while the estate is being administered.

Both types of funding are designed to provide access to funds when money is tied up in an estate. Whether funding is available, and the amount that may be offered, will depend on your circumstances and our assessment. More information can be found on the product pages of our website.

Repayment

An Inheritance Advance loan is generally intended to be repaid from the beneficiary's share of the inheritance, while an Estate Advance loan is intended to be repaid from estate proceeds.

Repayment remains subject to the terms of the loan agreement, including the applicable repayment deadlines. The time taken to administer an estate can vary, so it is important to understand your repayment obligations before taking out a loan.
